Otters sweep Midwest

By Chris Goodman

Former Harrison standout Adam Rogers was tough on the mound as the Otters put the finishing touches on a sweep of visiting Midwest on Thursday night.

Rogers recorded six straight outs in the first two innings on his way to picking up the win as the Otters cruised to a 3-0 victory at Bosse Field.

Most of the offense came in the bottom of the first inning. Jered Mochuzuki and Justin Randall led off the game with back to back basehits. The Otters' then caught a break when a sliders error allowed both runners to score on a well hit ball up the middle from Daniel Burton. That made the score 2-0. With Rogers on the mound, the Otters wouldn't need any more offense on this night.

It's been an up and down season for Evansville, who started the season 9-0. But ever since that brilliant start the Otters have failed to find consistency. This week the Otters have been on the good end of the streak. They've won three straight over the last place Eastern League Midwest Sliders. Now they're 23-25 overall and still jockeying for position in a very tight Western division race.
