Otters rally for win

By Chris Goodman

Maybe Midwest was just the medicine the Otters needed. The last place Sliders have now become just the cure Evansville needed after struggling for a stretch of 6 home games.

On Wednesday, the Otters trailed the majority of the game against visiting Midwest. In fact, the Eastern League Frontier team took a 1-0 lead in just the first inning off Otters' pitcher Ricky Bauer.

But the Otters eventually rallied with 2 runs late in the contest to pull out a 2-1 victory at Bosse Field. The win is the second straight for the Otters, who had struggled at home in the first stretch of a 9 game homestand. The Otters also handed the Sliders a 12-7 loss on Tuesday night.

The Otters pushed across just 6 hits on a night when they were helped by the Sliders 4 total errors. The win pushed Evansville back to just 3 games under five hundred on the season at 22-25. But they're still in last place in the Frontier League Western Division.  Midwest, still with just 14 wins on the season, was handed it's 32nd loss of the year and remains in last place in the East Division.

Work began back on May 30th, with the installation of new basketball goals, then a new video board and scoreboards, new bleachers, new lighting, and an overhaul of the basketball court.  The floor was stripped down to the bare wood and then sealed.  Today, painting...More >>
