Rebecca Rister-Nurses and The Community

The 2010 recipient of the "Nurses and the Community" Excellence Award was Rebecca Rister.  This award honors a nurse who has established relationships within healthcare and community organizations.  These types of partnerships should ultimately support and improve the health of the community they serve.

Rebecca's peers said, "Becky is an extremely skilled and competent nurse who is vastly revered by co-workers in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  It is her commitment to volunteerism that really makes her stand out in a crowd."  Rebecca volunteers (on an almost fulltime basis) at the Boonville American Red Cross.  In addition to teaching multiple classes at the Red Cross, including CPR and First Aid, Blood-borne Pathogens and Disaster Management, she is also the chair of the volunteer committee and a member of the Board of Directors.

Rebecca has been part of the St. Mary's family since February of 1991 and has devoted herself to the NICU.  She is a member of the NICU Council and serves on the Evacuation Committee with the Emergency Department on pre-term infants and anesthesia effects.
