The University of Evansville will host its first Small Business Fair on Fri., March 14. Created by students, the businesses reflect more than dozen efforts from entrepreneur students, who launched local businesses this semester as part of a business class taught by Peter Sherman, assistant professor of business.
Backed by capital from the Lilly Endowment, these students have started a range of businesses including selling items at the UE athletic center.
"For us, this isn't just a classroom exercise," says sophomore Sonya Anaya, who was an organizer of the event. "We have actually created a business, and many of us will continue to run that business long after we leave Dr. Sherman's class."
The free event, which is open to the public, will have keynote speaker, Vi Wickham from On-Site Computer Solutions, who will discuss creating a small business. The event runs from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in the atrium of the Schroeder Family School of Business Administration Building.
