More than 1,200 students will be awarded their undergraduate and graduate degrees on May 6, 2008 at the University of Southern Indiana commencement ceremony. Joining those students will be Sherrianne M. Standley, vice president emertia for advancement, who will deliver the commencement address and receive an honorary at the May commencement ceremony. Standley retired in 2007 after working at USI for 31 years.
She is the current president of the YWCA of Evansville, the chair of the Evansville New Markets Tax Credit Governing Board, and a life member of Keep Evansville Beautiful.
The USI Board of Trustees also announced three more honorary degrees that will be presented at the spring commencement ceremony: Warrick County residents Carol and Bruce Baker and Evansville resident Victor V. Schriefer Jr.
Carol is a USI ambassador and a member of the USI Foundation Board of Directors. Bruce has the longest tenure of any USI trustee with more than 18 years of service.
Schriefer was a quality control manager for the former Evansville-based beer company, Sterling Brewery. He is an active member in numerous organizations including the Fraternal Order of Police, Rolling Hills Country Club, Masonic Temple, Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine, and the Kennel Club.
