Traffic alert for Wendell Ford-Western Kentucky Parkway

New Media Producer: Nick Storm

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to reduce traffic to one lane eastbound on the Wendell Ford-Western Kentucky Parkway near the 27 mile marker in Hopkins County starting Thursday, December 6, 2007.

The right-hand or driving lane will be closed along about a two to three mile section of the parkway to allow Rogers Group, Inc., to mill up and replace two sections of pavement that did not meeting durability standards during lab testing.

A 1600 foot section and a 700 foot section of asphalt installed as part of a recent rehab project will be replaced.

Milling work at the site is expected to start first thing Thursday with paving and finish work to follow.  The work is expected to be completed in approximately three days, weather permitting.

Motorists should be aware of this eastbound lane restriction on the Western Kentucky Parkway and be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach the work zone starting at about the 27 mile marker in Hopkins County.

Motorists should slow down, buckle up, and be alert for equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.
