The Southwest Indiana Association of Health Underwriters (SWIAHU), Governor Mitch Daniels, and Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel have proclaimed Oct. 7-13 to be Health Insurance Awareness Week. To educate consumers, SWIAHU will hold a public informational meeting on the future of health insurance from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tues., Oct. 9 at the Oaklyn Library.
The discussion will cover consumer-driven health care and the effects of universal health care on health benefits. Also, State Senator Vaneta Becker will speak at SWIAHU's monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Thurs., Oct. 11 at Kipplee's Party House.
Attendees will also view a 20-minute documentary on the Canadian health care system.
