Starting Jan. 7, 2008, Dubois County residents will have free, simple access to local social service information through 211, a phone number with information regarding housing, food, employment, financial assistance, legal aid, health, addiction, victim assistance, etc.

211 is currently available to 85 percent of Indiana residents in 64 other counties. Last year, 14 Indiana 211 centers processed 232,000 calls and provided 331,000 referrals to human services agencies.

The service is free to the caller, and the cost of initiating the service in Dubois County will be paid by a public/private partnership.
