The Federal Aviation Administration recently approved more than $7 million in grants to fund safety and facility improvements at nine Indiana airports.

U.S. Senator Dick Lugar was notified that airports in Evansville, South Bend and Terre Haute, among others, would receive money to increase their safety and capacity.

At $1,761,475, the Evansville Regional Airport's is the second largest of the nine grants, following only South Bend's grant of more than $2 million.

Evansville's grant is designated for rehabilitation of the airport's service road and taxiway lighting.
