As a reminder, starting at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2007, NORTHBOUND traffic will be reduced to ONE LANE on the U.S. 41 Twin Bridges OVERNIGHT.
At that time NORTHBOUND traffic will be restricted to the EXTRA Lane created on the Southbound bridge. As a reminder, all traffic on the bridges continues to be subject to a strict 35 mile per hour speed limit. There will continue to be a stepped up law enforcement presence along the U.S. 41 Corridor near the bridges.
During nighttime hours NORTHBOUND trucks will be restricted to a load width of 9 and 1/2 feet.
Only one NORTHBOUND lane will be open from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. The overnight lane restriction will not start until 8:00 p.m. on FRIDAY.
The overnight lane restriction will remain in place until 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday morning.
To assure the safety of motorists and to help maintain reliable traffic flow, tow trucks will be stationed at each end of the bridges Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The tow trucks are available to quickly remove disabled vehicles should there be breakdown or a crash along the work zone.
The tow trucks are also expected to be on station from NOON to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, as traffic flow requires. In case of a breakdown or a non-injury crash the wreckers will immediately move disabled vehicles to a nearby staging area to allow traffic flow to resume as quickly as possible.
During daytime operation there will be two lanes of traffic flowing in each direction. One 12 ft. lane will be open on the NORTHBOUND bridge durng daytime, in additon to the 10 ft. Extra Lane on the Southbound bridge.
SOUTHBOUND trucks will be restricted to a maximum load width of 10 ft.
During daytime operation NORTHBOUND trucks will be restricted to a maximum load width of 11 ft.
