Dreams Really Do Come True .....
Dedication and Open House Planned for Media Ministries' Dream Center.
July 6th Dedication Ceremony for Evansville's new Dream Center - a place to nurture our children's body, mind, and spirit.
Evansville, IN: On Friday, July 6th, at 10:30am, Media Ministries will hold a dedication ceremony at the new home of their faith-based Dream Center located at 16 W. Morgan - ½ block west of Bosse Field, and a community Open House will be held Saturday, July 7th, from 10:00am - 3:00pm.
To have a permanent home for the Dream Center in the heart of the children's neighborhood will be such a blessing for the children, the families, and the volunteers. Previously, the Dream Center was using the facilities of Bible Center Cathedral for their Tuesday and Thursday evening programs. The Morgan Avenue location will be within walking distance for many of the children, which will give the Dream Center the opportunity to help even more children. The Dream Center is intended as a haven for Evansville's most at-risk children, with the focus being on the neighborhoods surrounding Heidelbach to Fulton Av, and Lloyd Expressway to Diamond Av. The "dream" began in 1998, not as a mission for many, but as a helping hand to one young man who was taken for meals, helped with schoolwork, and mentored in how to become a responsible citizen. This young man invited his brother, then a friend, friends started to invite more friends, until today as the Dream Center serves over 300 children in the most impoverished neighborhoods in Evansville.
With a volunteer base of over 150, and growing steadily, the Dream Center foresees serving at least twice the number of children after the first twelve months of operation. The Dream Center provides a place of love and encouragement for young people, as well as life's essentials of food, clothing, and shelter as donations from the community and individuals allow. The new Dream Center is a place where we can help children realize their dreams. A place where children can feel proud to be a part of a "family". A place where children can come and feed not only their bodies, but their mind and spirit by participating in nutritional, educational, and recreational programs. The community will be invited to tour the new 12,000 sq. ft. facility which includes classrooms, computer lab, recreation center, and much more. Refreshments will be served for both the Dedication and Grand Opening.
