SOUTHBOUND traffic on the US 41 Twin Bridges remains ONE LANE at this hour. Maintenance workers were delayed by rain today, but are attempting to complete their work in time for TWO LANE traffic to resume about 5:00 p.m. Friday.
Once SOUTHBOUND traffic is restored to two lanes this afternoon it is expected to REMAIN OPEN TO TWO LANES of travel THROUGH THE WEEKEND. There is no planned work on the SOUTHBOUND bridge this weekend.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. MONDAY southbound traffic will again be moved to the center lane for deck work to resume. That work is expected to be complete in time to open two lanes of southbound travel for the afternoon commute Monday.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet appreciates the cooperation of Henderson-Evansville area motorists during this work to get the southbound bridge in optimum condition for adding an extra travel lane to the southbound bridge. For the safety of everyone, motorists are reminded to practice patience and courtesy in merge zones. Citations issued in the work zone are subject to double fines. Double fines apply to citations such as aggressive driving and DUI.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555. Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
