A hospital official says one of the students injured Monday in the shootings at Virginia Tech is expected to be released Tuesday.

CEO Scott Hill says nine students remain hospitalized at Montgomery Regional Hospital and all of them are stable.

He says two others have been transferred to other hospitals with a level one trauma center.

A hospital in Salem, Virginia has three remaining patients, all in stable condition. The patient expected to be discharged is being treated there.

At least 26 people were taken to hospitals after the second attack, some seriously injured.

Many found themselves trapped after someone, apparently the shooter, chained and locked doors to the classroom building from the inside.
