Officials are considering criminal charges against a suburban Chicago school bus driver who dropped an eleven-year-old boy a mile from his home, leading him to wander the streets for more than six hours.
Officials say Gerardo Diaz Junior of Cicero fell asleep on the bus on the way home from school Tuesday, and the bus driver didn't find him until the end of her shift.
Instead of taking him back to his bus stop, which is three blocks from his home, she took him a mile farther.
He says he spent the next six hours wandering the streets, growing increasingly afraid, hungry and cold.
He finally made it home after 10:00 PM.
The bus driver has been suspended, and a Cicero police spokesman says she could be charged with child endangerment.
