Handmade Italian shoes were the loot, and then the weapons, in a high-speed police chase in California.
San Diego police say a clerk reported the theft of $700 worth of shoes from a boutique. The responding officer found a suspect in the store in the well-heeled neighborhood of La Jolla.
A chase followed. Police say the woman and her friend hit speeds of up to 100 miles-per-hour in a 1997 Honda Civic. Police say the women heaved the shoes at their pursuers.
The 31- and 35-year-olds were finally stopped in a San Diego suburb. They were arrested for investigation of theft and evading arrest.
