HANCOCK CO., KY (WFIE) - Rolled-Aluminum giant Novelis announced it signed a deal to acquire Aleris Corporation.
Aleris has 13 plants, including one in Hancock County.
Just last fall Aleris expanded, building a 350,000-square foot building in Lewisport, Kentucky. It was a project that cost $400-million and added 138 jobs in the small city.
A release on the company's website says Aleris will operate as a separate entity until the sale to Novelis closes in nine to 15 months. After that, it will become part of Novelis, which is based in Atlanta.
