Evansville shooting suspect indicted by grand jury

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - An Evansville man is back in jail facing new charges after a Mother's Day shooting.

Donye Morris had been arrested for attempted murder after the shooting of Montarious Cheatem on Ridgeway Avenue.

We reported charged were dropped a few days later, but we now know officials were waiting for a grand jury indictment.

Authorities say Morris was indicted last week for robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, aggravated battery, and battery by means of a deadly weapon.

He has been rebooked into jail and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Records show Morris was also charged with attempted murder in 2016. He was found not guilty in the case last summer.
