Sheriff looking to improve jail after inmates escaped last month

WHITE CO., IL (WFIE) - The White County Sheriff is looking to improve the jail after three inmates escaped last month.

Sheriff Doug Meier talked to County board members on Tuesday. He said the longtime jail administrator has been replaced.

Several jail workers are also facing disciplinary action for policy violations related to the escape.

The sheriff said Johnny Tipton, Zachery Shock, and Justin Bray broke out by banging a hole into the wall of the jail. All three are back in jail.

Sheriff Meier assures the community they are safe and he will be releasing security camera video of the incident soon.
