EPD: Man shot during attempted home invasion robbery identified

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The man shot in an attempted home invasion robbery has been identified. 

The Vanderburgh County Coroner says they are investigating the death of 46-year-old Eric Thomas.

Officials were called to the 1700 block of Coker Avenue on Saturday after Thomas was shot in an attempted home invasion robbery.

EPD told 14 News reporter Jim Stratman, Thomas was shot multiple times after trying to break into a house. Police tell us they believe the homeowner and his daughter were confronted by Thomas before the shooting.

He was taken to the hospital.

According to the EPD Twitter account, Thomas died at the hospital.

We're told EPD is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. 

An autopsy is pending, and no other details are being released at this time.

    We are looking into an event that was canceled last minute this weekend leaving many with unanswered questions.  According to the Facebook Page "Evansville Events" an event called "The Adult Prom Evansville 2018, Remember the Time," was canceled on the day of the event.  The prom was supposed to be held at the Ramada Inn in Henderson on Saturday at 8 p.m.  The events page says tickets were $75 per couple and proceeds were to benefit the Evansville...
