All-inclusive playground approved for Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON, IN (WFIE) - City officials in Mt. Vernon approved building an all-inclusive playground along the riverfront at Riverbend Park.

Organizers are in the planning stages right now and are looking at ways to fund the 8,000 square foot playground in the eastern portion of the park near Mulberry Street.

Resident Rachel Deno told us her daughter came up with the idea of an all-inclusive playground.

Deno told us she and her daughter are working with a non-profit organization called "Unlimited Play" out of St. Louis, which helps builds accessible playgrounds for children of all abilities and their families.

The playground will have an agriculture theme, which Deno said is fitting for Posey County.

The two will meet with city leaders on Tuesday to try and come up with a name for the playground.
