WARRICK CO., IN (WFIE) - Schools in Warrick County will be under construction this summer.
The school board awarded more than a million dollars worth of bids for renovation projects on Monday.
Superintendent Brad Schneider says the projects include putting in more efficient heating and air conditioning systems, roof repairs, and sprucing up classrooms with new paint and carpet.
The money is approved now so crews can get things done during the summer break and finish the last of a three year plan to improve the district's buildings.
"We have about a 10-week window," Superintendent Schneider explained. "So we try to gauge the work that needs to be done with the amount of time and money we have. So therefore that's why you see a lot of these projects spread out over two or three years."
Schools on the list for upgrades include J.H. Castle Elementary, Oakdale Elementary, and Castle Middle Schools. Schneider says those projects should be done by August 9, which is before the first day of class.
