Indiana to Help with Mississippi Katrina Recovery Efforts

UPDATE, 4PM THUR: Indiana will send 184 state employees to the most damaged areas on Mississippi to help with recovery efforts. Once there, those workers will determine whether additional resources from the state are needed.

Agencies participating in the deployment include, Indiana State Police, Department of Health and Indiana National Guard, among others.

EARLIER: It's called Operation Hoosier Relief.

Indiana's Homeland Security Director Thursday announced that his office will be outlining recovery assistance the state will be sending to Mississippi to help with recovery from Hurricane Katrina.

Executive Director J. Eric Dietz says they will make their plans public during a news conference Thursday afternoon.
