Overflow of Cats at Daviess Co. Animal Shelter

OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) - -

There is an abundance of cats and kittens at the Daviess County Animal Shelter.

Because of the more than 100 cats, the animal shelter is hosting a special adoption day on Saturday.

At the Petsmart in Owensboro, about 20 cats and kittens will be available to be adopted. From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. the animals will be half off at $30.

The kittens and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

One kitten foster mom is hopeful many of these kittens will find a forever home.

"They are so innocent, and cats especially," Daviess County Animal Shelter Volunteer Janie Robinson said. "But they seem like they're so plentiful, and they're throwaways many times. There are so many strays."

The remaining cats will be up for adoption at the Daviess County Animal Shelter. Adult cats are $5.
