EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

A juvenile is in custody after Evansville police say he shot a friend in the leg.

Officers responded to a home in the 2100 block of Eichel Avenue around 1 p.m. on Monday and found Olaoluwa Ibidapo was shot in the upper left thigh.

Roshead Jones told police he was in the house at the time of the shooting. Jones said Ibidapo yelled out that "Maeskii" had shot him and when Jones left his bedroom, "Maeskii" pointed the gun at Jones as well.

Jones quickly went back into his bedroom, slammed the door, and called the police. That's when "Maeskii" reportedly stole an Xbox gaming console and left the house.

Through Facebook, police were able to identify "Maeskii" as 16-year-old Marlon McLaurin, who turned himself in on Wednesday.

McLaurin originally denied shooting Ibidapo despite being at the house. He told police he had left to go to his girlfriend's house and didn't know what happened after.

Police told McLaurin that Ibidapo and Jones identified him as the shooter and they knew he was "Maeskii". That's when McLaurin admitted to being the shooter and said it happened because Ibidapo got angry after losing in a video game.

McLaurin told police he and Ibidapo got into a heated argument and thought a fight was going to break out, so he pulled out his gun and accidentally shot Ibidapo.

McLaurin was taken to Youth Care Center and is facing charges of armed robbery, battery, dangerous possession of a firearm, and criminal recklessness.
