BIRDSEYE, IN (WFIE) -

A fire destroyed an historic merchant building in Dubois County.

Fire crews were called to the Koerner Block building in Birdseye after 3:00 p.m. Thursday.

Fire crews from four departments worked to put out the fire.

We're told the building was being used for storage. No one was hurt.

Indiana Landmarks had been working with a local committee to raise enough money to stabilize and preserve the building, which dates back to 1893.
