EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Police reports say an Evansville house fire is now an arson investigation.
It happened early Thursday morning in the 400 block of N. Linwood Ave.
According to the district fire chief, an ambulance crew saw the smoke and called dispatch around 5 a.m.
Our reporter at the scene said the windows of the home were boarded up and the house looked vacant. The fire chief says he's aware of two people living in the house, possibly a child too, but they were not home.
A firefighter removed a dog from inside, which reports say later died.
We're told most of the fire was on the first floor of the house. The fire was put out quickly, but crews were on the scene for quite some time.
Police reports say investigators are looking into threats made about burning the house down.
The cause of the fire has not been released. So far, no one has been arrested.
