ROCKFORD, WA (RNN) - A student killed one teen and injured three others at a school in Washington Wednesday, police said.
"Today that student came to school, armed. He entered the school and proceeded to take his weapons out. He attempted to fire one weapon and it jammed," said Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich. "He went to his next weapon and a student walked up to him, engaged him and that student was shot.”
The suspected gunman, who police have not identified, was taken into custody.
The hospital said during a news conference that the three teenagers are in stable condition, and one was scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday afternoon. In addition to the high school, the middle and elementary schools were placed in lockdown.
Police searched the high school's rooms for any additional threats, the sheriff's office said on Twitter.
Identities of the suspect and victims have not been revealed by authorities. Medical helicopters responded, along with police and other emergency responders.
