Play for Kate has money for a new ATV safety robot

The Play for Kate organization has the money for a new ATV safety robot.

That's thanks to A+ Derr Heating and Cooling, who presented a $10,000 check to Play for Kate.

The money will go towards a second ATV safety robot.

The Tri-State already has one robot, Safety Sam, but this time it will be Safety Sarah.

Ashlee Bruggenschmidt started Play for Kate in honor of her daughter, who died in an ATV crash. She said Safety Sam is already double and triple booked.

Now with a new robot, they can stop turning people away from ATV safety education.

"We want to make sure that we can continue to spread that message and increase that awareness and prevent ATV crashes," said Ashlee. "Our goal is we want zero preventable deaths on ATVs and Safety Sam is a great educational took."

"Everyone that works here made something happens," said A+ Derr owner, Doug Lewis. "That's my proudest moment. It wasn't just one person that did this, it was the whole crew and I'm pretty happy about that."

Doug said over 50 of his people made this happen in a matter of two months through a donated service agreement.

Ashlee said they hope to have Safety Sarah by the beginning of October.
