SIMPSON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Simpson County Undersheriff said his office received a call to a home that had an alligator in the backyard.

Dr. Chip Holbrook's called on Saturday asking for help removing an 8 ft. 7 in. alligator from the flower bed before the after-prom party.

His son had trimmed the hedges within inches of the gator before Holbrook discovered the gator while raking the clippings out of the flower beds with a rake.

The gator had left the nearby 15 acre lake in search of a mating partner.

MDWFP Conservation Officers relocated the nuisance alligator. Officers Jake Guess, Chad Shows, and Marvin Miller all helped wrestle the gator.
