EPD: Shots fired suspect found dead

Evansville police say a man was found dead inside his home during a shots fired investigation.

Officers were called to a trailer park in the 2900 block of South St. James around 11 a.m. Friday.

Retired EPD captain and trailer park employee Clayton Grace reported he was driving by the area when Aaron Dayvolt fired at least one shot at him. Grace's truck was hit by at least one bullet.

Police say Dayvolt had called 911 about 20 minutes before the incident to turn himself in for a warrant.

Crisis negotiators attempted to make contact with Dayvolt for three hours before EPD's SWAT team entered the trailer and found Dayvolt dead.

We're told no shots were fired by officers during the incident.
