DUBOIS CO., IN (WFIE) -

A sophomore at Southridge High School has passed away unexpectedly.

The Dubois County Herald reports 16-year-old Lexi Mattingly died Thursday.

School officials say she is the daughter of a teacher at the school and played several sports.

They say she had a heart condition.

On Monday, The Dubois County Herald took a photo of her as she stood with members of her tennis team. They were all wearing their matching "Luv" for Lexi" shirts.

Sporting events were canceled Thursday evening at Southridge. The track team was supposed to have a meet with Princeton High School.

A photo was taken of members of the Princeton team after they heard there was an emergency. A viewer tells us the boys took it upon themselves to pray for Southridge.
