Evansville to host NCAA D2 men's basketball tournament 'Elite Eight'

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The City of Evansville is set to host NCAA men's basketball tournament games.

According to the NCAA's website, Evansville will host the Division II "Elite Eight" round from 2019 through 2022.

The Ford Center previously hosted the Division II championship games in 2014 and 2015.

The other bids included: the University of Dayton, which has hosted the First Four games for years and will continue to do so.  The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit also had hopes to host, as well as the Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
