EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Department of Homeland Security has begun the deportation process of an Evansville man, who authorities say made alarming threats towards residents of an apartment complex.

Hassan Alhashim, 21-years-old, of Evansville, made threats to kill the residents of an apartment complex on Lincoln Park Drive, according to the probable cause affidavit. Evansville Police Department (EPD) officials were informed by a detective that Alhashim made these threats.

Detectives followed up this information and spoke with a resident of the complex. According to the affidavit, detectives learned from the resident that several threats from Alhashim were made, saying he was going to kill people and that they better make peace with their god.

Through speaking with residents, detectives found out Alhashim had been telling people he had not slept for several days and was smoking a lot of marijuana.

Within the last several weeks, Alhashim was barred from University of Evansville, and University of Southern Indiana properties, the affidavit states.

Alhashim was taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail by authorities prior to the Department of Homeland Security transferring him to Chicago. EPD Sgt. Jason Cullum says Alhashim's Visa has been revoked and local charges were dropped so the deportation process could get underway.
