Girl Scout Cookies kick-off their 100th anniversary of cookie sales

It is that time of the year again we know many look forward to, Girl Scout cookie season.

This year is extra special because it's the 100th anniversary of the girl scout cookie sales.

To celebrate, they have a new cookie out called S'mores.

A few Southwest Indiana girls scouts said these cookies sales help their troop and them grow individually.

"It teaches me how to run a business and I get to help people with my money," said brownie Girl Scout Nykki Barnett.

"I've been able to go camping and help the homeless, and It Takes a Village," said junior Girl Scout Madison Rickabaugh.

Madalyn Bradley, the director or marketing and communications for the Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana, said, "The girl scout cookie program is the largest financial literary program for girls in the world so purchasing cookies not only supports them financially but brings about those life skills that really make future leaders."

You can start ordering from girl scouts Friday, December 16. Just find a girl scout and they will get you hooked up.

And remember, the boxes they sell in Southwest Indiana stay here locally.

Cookies will be out for grabs on Feb. 13, 2017.
