Thunderbolts: From the flight line (SPHL Week 7 Preview)

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Evansville finished their longest road trip of the season last week.  They split games with Peoria and finished the five-game road trip 3-2.  The Thunderbolts are 3-10-3 on the season.  Their nine points place them in ninth place, one point behind seventh place Fayetteville and Roanoke, two points behind sixth place Pensacola.

The new guns for Evansville, acquired last week, had a dynamic impact on the team.  Stephon Thorne, Vytal Cote and Josh Elmes combined for two assists, 18 PIMs and a +6 rating.  The +6 rating was most impressive because the Thunderbolts were outscored 9-3 in the two games against Peoria.

Josh Harris continues to be the shootout master for Evansville.  He scored another shootout goal Saturday night in the 2-1 victory.  On the season, Harris has four shootout goals on six attempts.  He has scored all three game winning goals.

Goaltender Tanner Milliron got his first shootout victory of his professional career Saturday.  He made 33 saves through regulation and overtime.  He stopped seven of eight shootout attempts and raised his save percentage to .911.  The victory Saturday came against former Thunderbolt netminder Tyler Parks.

NEXT OPPONENT

Thunderbolt Goaltender Mike Doan was in net for Knoxville that night.  Doan made 51 saves for the victory and won SPHL Bauer Player of the Week honors.
