EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Those wildfires devastating the Gatlinburg area are also affecting people in the Tri-State.

We met an Evansville man Tuesday who is planning to travel to Tennessee to help out.

T.J. Craig collected nearly 4,000 water bottles and loaded them onto his truck. Craig tells us he bought most of those bottles himself.

But now, he is asking for your help to donate more.

One of his business partners spends a lot of time in Gatlinburg and he wanted to give back. Craig says spreading the word through social media has helped.

Craig plans to drop the items off tonight to Pigeon Forge firefighters. He'll also head to emergency shelters, giving to people who've been displaced from their homes.

"It's kind of how I was brought up," said Craig. "You know, if you have something like this happen, you do what you can to help. This is what we can do."

Craig plans to hit the road Tuesday night.

"The plan is to try to get the whole way tonight," said Craig. "We've got several people meeting us there in the morning. A guy who works for me that's down there and a couple people that they know are gathering supplies now. So, we're just going to convoy in in the morning, drop it, and head back."

Craig will be at North Castle Tuesday night during and after basketball games at the school from 7:30 to 8:30. He'll collect any of your donations before he hits the road.
