Gatlinburg fire impacts Owensboro company

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

An Owensboro company manages 400 properties in Gatlinburg.

The owners of American Patriot Getaways tell 14 News they don't know how many cabins were destroyed in the fire since no one is allowed back in Gatlinburg yet. They do know their guests were able to evacuate safely. The phones rang constantly with customers concerned about their reservations, but despite the chaos, the company is staying positive.

"We will lose properties, I have no doubt about that. Its a very resilient area, and I believe that they will, you know, homeowners will build back. It's a very popular destination. People love the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area. They will rebuild and it will go on," Director of Reservations, Cathy Foster, says.

The company says first priority is making sure current guests make it out safely. Then they'll take care of this week's incoming reservations.
