MUHLENBERG CO., KY (WFIE) -

A Kentucky man involved in a deadly crash in Muhlenberg County is in jail facing a murder charge.

State police say 24-year-old Bobby Ammonds, from Franklin, KY, was under the influence of alcohol when he went off Kentucky 949 south of Penrod Sunday night and hit a tree.

His passenger, 36-year-old Joshua Stilts, of Smiths Grove, was killed.

State police say neither man was wearing a seatbelt.

Ammonds was taken to the hospital and then to the Muhlenberg County jail.

He pleaded not guilty in court Monday morning. His preliminary hearing is October 24th. He's facing up to 50 years in jail if convicted.
