(RNN) – An armed suspect who took four people hostage in a Baltimore Burger King for about five and a half hours is in police custody. The hostages are OK, police tell The Baltimore Sun.

The suspect took four people hostage in a Burger King in Baltimore on Sunday at about 11:30 a.m. ET and released two of the hostages at 4 p.m. ET. One of the hostages was a 7-year-old girl.

Officers attempted to serve the man an arrest warrant for a rape at 11 a.m. ET when he fled and led police on a chase, according to the Baltimore Sun. Police have not released the suspect's name.

Before running into the Burger King, the suspect crashed into another car. The driver suffered minor injuries.

A witness, Ryan Weinberger, told the Baltimore Sun that the man came running into the fast food restaurant talking on a cell phone. Weinberger, 29, escaped through a side door with two other customers.

He also said that a young girl with pig tails was behind the counter while ordered, and he assumed it was the child of an employee.

Police have blocked off the area and called in the SWAT team. They are however, negotiating with the suspect.

"Our ultimate goal is to end this peacefully for all parties," Baltimore Police Department chief spokesman T.J. Smith told The Sun. "We have our negotiators on scene. We have our SWAT team on scene. We've cordoned off the area for safety purposes."
