Invasive insect detected in Posey Co.

POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) -

The Emerald ash borer, an invasive insect that kills ash trees, has been detected for the first time in Posey County.

Of Indiana's 92 counties, 84 have now have the ash borers, also known as EABs.

Because so many counties are now affected by the pest, the Indiana EAB quarantine is no longer being administered.

It kept people from moving ash trees, limbs and lumber in hopes of containing the bugs.
