Police officers treat Newburgh students to holiday shopping spree

NEWBURGH, IN (WFIE) -

Eight lucky Newburgh elementary students went on a holiday shopping spree with police officers.

The officers helped the kids pick out clothes, toys, and gifts for their family, at the Newburgh Walmart.

Each child bought up to $200 worth of stuff, and then afterwards, got to hang out with the cops at a pizza party back at the police station.

“To be honest with you, we have just as much fun doing it as the kids do,” says Brett Sprinkle, Newburgh Police Chief.  “The officers embrace it.  We help them wrap their gift for whoever they buy for.  This year we had a young lady buy for her entire family.”

Casey's General Stores was the main sponsor of the Shop with a Cop event.
