Owensboro man accused of stealing change from laundromats

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

An Owensboro man is in jail accused of stealing change from several laundromats and soda machines.

Bond is set at more than $100,000 for 37-year-old Thomas Moffitt. 

He's facing numerous counts of criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking, and burglary.

Sheriff's deputies say Moffitt is accused of beating washer and dryers and several soda machines until coins came out.

Deputies say he hit two places on Watson Lane and one on North Elm. 

He's also accused of taking money from a washer in an apartment complex on Scherm Road in Owensboro and a laundromat on Time Drive.

    Surveillance cameras captured someone opening fire at a gas station in Jasper. Police are looking for one of the people they said opened fire on Friday night, while the other is still in a hospital.
