EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - More than 2,000 families in the Tri-State received a meal thanks to the Evansville Rescue Mission's Gobbler Gathering.
The event, now in its 93rd year, hosted 250 people in the first hour.
Meals included everything from a frozen turkey to vegetables and other Thanksgiving-themed goodies.
The mission also delivered 450 bags to local residents in need.
First time volunteer Josie Buckles is a sophomore at Tecumseh High School and joined hundreds of others to help.
"One of the men came through and he shook our hands and he was like, 'God bless you' and it just makes your heart warm," says Josie Buckles. "It just feels really good."
