DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) - The Daviess County Detention Center staff is getting money to help more state inmates fight drug addiction.
Governor Steve Beshear recently announced $263,000 in grant money will be given to the detention center's substance abuse program.
The funding will be used to help 20 state inmates get treatment for heroin and prescription drug addiction.
"It's going to be very beneficial for our community and the state at large," says Jailer David Osborne. "Because we are housing somewhere around 450 state inmates here."
Osborne says most of the inmates at the Daviess County Detention Center have substance abuse problems.
