EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Old and abandoned homes in Gibson County will be torn down thanks to Indiana's Blight Elimination Project.
The house at 621 East State Street was last occupied in 2004 and will be one of the first demolished by the end of the year.
It will be used as green space for redevelopment.
Gibson County was awarded $1.3-million to combat blight and create safe and enjoyable neighborhoods.
60 additional homes in the county as well as Mt. Vernon and Boonville will be demolished.
More than 4,000 homes throughout the state are included in the project.
