National Weather Service conducts town hall meeting in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The National Weather Service wants to hear from you on how they're doing.

Meteorologists from NWS Paducah came to the Evansville Red Cross for a town hall meeting.

The focus? Tornadoes.

They wanted to know how well you're informed, where you get your weather warnings, and how they can help keep you up to date.

They say that they often hear about people who end up turning their weather radios off, and want to make sure people know to keep them charged and ready.

"Weather affects everybody,” said Rachel Trevino, Forecaster.  “We become very relaxed about it during these quiet weather years.  We've had very little severe weather.  They need to always know that they need to stay alert, they need to pay attention to weather forecasts, and always have a way to get warnings."

The NWS will also be hosting a winter weather workshop November 19 in Evansville.

It's free and open to the public.

They hope to take what they heard at Monday’s meeting and use it to make their website more effective.
