Chicago-based Boeing says its board has forced out president and chief executive officer Harry Stonecipher because of a relationship he had with a female executive.
Boeing says an internal investigation revealed a "consensual'' relationship between Stonecipher and the female executive that was determined to violate the company's code of conduct. Boeing in a news release this morning says Stonecipher's actions "would impair his ability to lead the company.'' But Boeing says the relationship had no effect on the company's business operations.
A Boeing spokesman says the female executive didn't report directly to Stonecipher and remains with the company. He declined to provide further details. Chief financial officer James Bell will fill in as interim president and CEO.
