Western Kentucky first responders lose homes in separate fires

DAWSON SPRINGS, KY (WFIE) -

The search is on for the cause of a fire in Dawson Springs.

The homeowner in this case?  A Dawson Springs firefighter.

Crews responded to Jimmy Miller's home in the 500 block of East Walnut Street on Tuesday night.

The home was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived.

Miller's son and wife were home and got out safely.

“It's weird because you never think about going to help one of your own people put one of their house fires out,” said Steven Lamb, a Dawson Springs firefighter.  “So it's different, but I think it's good to know you can help them as well as others.”

A similar situation happened in Webster County.

Fire crews were called an EMT's home in Clay.

No one was home at the time.  Investigators say the fire started in the kitchen.
