DUBOIS CO., IN (WFIE) - Hunters in Dubois County are asking other hunters to donate extra deer meat to the needy.
Hunters for the Hungry is a program that gives deer meat to food pantries in Dubois, Daviess and Crawford Counties.
The meat is an extra protein option for the people the pantries serve. Organizers say normally, families only get one protein option.
Legally tagged deer meat can be taken to one of four sites: Ferdinand Processing, Sander Processing, Ohio Valley Custom Deer Processing or Cannelburg Processing.
Hunters have to donate the entire deer to qualify.
Organizers say their goal for this season is to have close to 150 deer donated.
