Mercury testing in Ohio River

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission say testing for mercury released into the water will be determined on a state-by-state basis instead of a comprehensive plan.

The commission decided that states will decide where and how companies do testing to gauge discharged mercury.

Steel factories, power plants, and other sources have been pumping mercury into the water for years, which can make fish unsafe to eat.
